Tips to help your family sit less and move more

  • Try to limit how much time you and your family spend sitting down during the day. Get moving and play a fun game instead - plenty of ideas can be found in our Resources.

  • Next time, instead of rewarding the kids with TV, computer or electronic games, why not reward them with balls, kites, skipping ropes or something that gets them active?

  • Physical activity helps boost your heart and lungs' ability to get blood to your muscles.

  • By limiting the time you spend sitting or lying down you can help reduce your risk of some cancers and prevent unhealthy weight gain.

  • Looking for some indoor fun for the kids? Construct a village together out of toys, boxes or things around the house and let the little ones make up a story about a day in the village.
