Tips to help your family sit less and move more

We’ve got a whole library of practical tips to help you and your family get moving! Keep it fun by trying out some of our challenges, too.


  • Take the stairs instead of the lift or escalator. Or if you're on an escalator, keep walking anyway.

  • Increase the intensity and length of your physical activity sessions gradually. If you go too hard too fast, you'll just burn yourself out and stop altogether.

  • There are many strength building activities that are not necessarily what you would see as exercise - digging, carrying or lifting all count.

  • Your little ones will love playing with balls, bats, tricycles and kites (with supervision) – they're all activities that encourage movement.

  • Next time you and the kids are heading out for a walk, why not see if your neighbour would like to join you?
