Tips to help your family sit less and move more

We’ve got a whole library of practical tips to help you and your family get moving! Keep it fun by trying out some of our challenges, too.


  • Make a pledge to limit your family’s screen time. Make the most of time spent together and have fun by playing games or getting moving in some way.

  • Don't forget, shovelling or carrying heavy loads makes you huff and puff which counts as vigorous activity.

  • If it's raining outside, move the fun indoors with a dance competition, play games with balloons or soft balls, or head to your local indoor swimming pool.

  • Keeping active and doing vigorous physical activity - especially something that makes you huff and puff a bit - has great health benefits. Often kids get this exercise at school, but it's still important to do more activity when at home.

  • Play with the family dog. Kicking or throwing the ball for the dog will keep everyone on the move. After all, if anyone can keep up with the kids, it's your dog!
