We’ve got a whole library of practical tips to help you and your family get moving! Keep it fun by trying out some of our challenges, too.
Looking for some indoor fun for the kids? Construct a village together out of toys, boxes or things around the house and let the little ones make up a story about a day in the village.
Kids aged five and over should limit watching TV or playing electronic games for entertainment to no more than two hours per day.
There are some activities like reading, doing school work and travelling that need to be done while you are sitting. But there can still be opportunities to move more and sit less. A fun way to get active while reading with the family is to read a book out loud and act out parts of the story. If a character is running, the family can run too. Are characters in the story dancing? Dance along, too!
Head to your local park and use the monkey bars for lifts or do step-jumps to add more strength building activity into your family's week. You could even have a piggy back race where you can race with the kids on your backs. Click here to find Canberra's play spaces.
Encourage your kids to grow strong bones and muscles by getting them to skip, hop, run and jump.
