Tips to help your family sit less and move more

We’ve got a whole library of practical tips to help you and your family get moving! Keep it fun by trying out some of our challenges, too.


  • If it's raining outside, move the fun indoors with a dance competition, play games with balloons or soft balls, or head to your local indoor swimming pool.

  • Make bedrooms TV and computer free zones.

  • We know it can be hard to do 60 minutes of activity a day - so start with 10 minutes once or twice a day and build your way up.

  • Encourage your kids to create, imagine and choose their own play. They'll be learning creative play and independence (e.g. climbing a tree or building a cubby house out of chairs under sheets).

  • You and your little ones can have great fun playing with simple household items like boxes, pots, pans and hoops to encourage reaching, stretching, crawling and moving. Put your stray plastic lids or containers into a bottom drawer for them to play with!
