Tips to get your family into life

With a few pointers from the tips below, you and your family could get more out of every day. Or, try some of our challenges to really get things rolling!


  • Make a pledge to limit your family's screen time. Make the most of time spent together and have fun by playing games or getting moving in some way.

  • Kids aged five and over should limit watching TV or playing electronic games for entertainment to no more than two hours per day.

  • A great way to kick off the habit of sitting together as a family is to get the kids to host the family 'restaurant' once a week. They can set the table and help prepare the meal with you. Do it on the weekend when things tend to be less busy.

  • If your family finds it hard to disconnect from digital media, try putting your laptop, smartphone and other devices in a cupboard or somewhere out of sight.

  • Next time why not walk to the shops instead of driving? It's a great chance to talk with your kids, or maybe even play a game of 'I spy' or 'Spot the object' along the way.
