Tips to get your family into life

With a few pointers from the tips below, you and your family could get more out of every day. Or, try some of our challenges to really get things rolling!

  • Life as a parent often feels like it's a rush from one thing to the next. Try to take some time out for yourself this week by locking a coffee date with a friend into your diary or catching up for some adult conversation. Your kids will learn that fostering friendships is important.

  • Board games like snakes and ladders, dominoes and simple card games will teach your kids the concept of fair play, and how to win or lose graciously.

  • Making your own playdough isn't just great, squishy fun for the kids; it helps develop their fine motor skills. Try this playdough recipe.

  • Being a parent or carer is a bit like throwing your life up into the air and then catching extra bits on the way down. So one of your best sources of help, support and friendship is likely to be other parents to share your joys, frustrations and concerns with.

  • There are lots of ways you can help your community, like delivering meals to those in need, reading books to children, or door-to-door collecting for charity. Volunteering ACT has great ideas on where to start.
