Tips to get your family into life

With a few pointers from the tips below, you and your family could get more out of every day. Or, try some of our challenges to really get things rolling!

  • A good way to make sure you're regularly spending time with others is to set up a monthly get-together. Whether it's going to your mothers' group with the kids, or having a healthy afternoon tea at someone's house, set up a monthly time to meet and see if you can alternate locations.

  • There are endless ways you can motivate your family to move more at home like a game of backyard cricket, soccer, or basketball. And by being physically active with your family, you're also being a great role model for your kids.

  • Making your own playdough isn't just great, squishy fun for the kids; it helps develop their fine motor skills. Try this playdough recipe.

  • As a parent, your life often gets caught up with various parenting "stuff". Try to take some time out for yourself this week by locking in a coffee date with a friend into your diary or catching up for some adult conversation. Your kids will learn that fostering friendships is important.

  • When your kids get frustrated, it can sometimes be too much to handle. Hang in there and try to repeat back what you think they're feeling. It will help them learn to express themselves and over time it will help make them feel respected, comforted and cope with their emotions better.
