Tips to help you eat well

  • Add grated carrot or pumpkin to a wholegrain muffin recipe. Or for fun colour instead, toss in some fresh berries. For more recipe ideas click here.

  • It's not always easy but try to involve your kids in preparing meals. Research shows that not only does it build a child's skills and confidence, children who help prepare food are more likely to eat it.

  • Getting hungry while you're out and about? Plan ahead and pack some fresh fruit, vegie sticks, nuts or cheese and crackers.

  • Nuts are suitable for children from 3 years of age (but keep these at home and avoid nuts when sending your children to early childhood centres or school).

  • We are lucky in the ACT that we have such clean drinking water. When you head out, make sure you take a full water bottle from home. It will keep you hydrated as well as saving you money.
