Challenge your family to move more
The challenges below will get your family moving and will help make being physically active a part of everyday life. You can also check out our handy tips for more great ways to get started.
Teach your kids two new games this week that you might have played when you were a child. Skipping rope games, hide and seek, Mr. Wolf… the list goes on. It's a great way to share your childhood and connect with your kids.
During the ad breaks, mute the sound on the TV and take turns calling out an animal name. Everyone has to move like that animal to a finish line (or the end of the ad break!). Make it more fun by making the animal noise too! You could also use this challenge to break up time spent sitting behind the computer or game device and schedule breaks.
Take paper and crayons along on your family walks and the kids can place their paper over any surface they find interesting, then rub the side of their crayon gently over the paper. Voila! A paper rubbing the kids will love.
Challenge your whole family to see how many push-ups, lunges or jumps you can all fit into five minute bursts. See if you can beat your best time week after week.
See how long your family can keep a ball or toy or balloon in the air, using your feet to pass it to each other. (You can also use a soccer ball.)
