Challenge your family to move more
The challenges below will get your family moving and will help make being physically active a part of everyday life. You can also check out our handy tips for more great ways to get started.
Play some classic fun games such as an egg and spoon race, a race with plastic cups of water balanced on everyone’s heads, a three-legged race or even a tug of war.
If your family is watching TV, be active while watching for 10 minutes. You could all fold laundry, stretch, do sit-ups or jumping jacks... basically anything that gets you huffing and puffing a bit.
Make time this week to incorporate some strength building exercise. The playground is a good place to start. Use the monkey bars to lift yourself up, do lunges against a park bench or step-ups. Every little bit counts.
Mix it up by getting the kids to choose an activity each weekend for a month that the whole family can do together. It might be bike riding, a scooter ride or a game of tag in the backyard.
Set up a ‘crazy golf’ course using items from around the house, like blocks, cushions, cardboard boxes and plastic cups for the holes. Stage a family tournament!
