We’ve got a whole library of practical tips to help you and your family get moving! Keep it fun by trying out some of our challenges, too.
Like most changes, start small. Try doing ten laps of the backyard jogging or get the skipping rope out. Any activity that gets your heart rate up and huffing and puffing will do you good.
Try mixing things up - go bike riding, play touch footy at one of your local ovals, go swimming at a public pool or go for a brisk walk (or even a light jog and see if your kids can keep up).
One clear evening, take the family outside and see if you can find south using the stars, if you can spot any of the famous star constellations, or simply make up your own shapes. For more ideas to explore the sky with your kids, visit here.
Next time why not walk to the shops instead of driving? It's a great chance to talk with your kids, or maybe even play a game of 'I spy' or 'Spot the object' along the way.
Encourage the kids to try walking barefoot on different surfaces - try grass, carpet, concrete or sand.
