Tips to help your family sit less and move more

We’ve got a whole library of practical tips to help you and your family get moving! Keep it fun by trying out some of our challenges, too.


  • You don't have to block out a whole afternoon for exercise. Take a stop watch, make ten minutes each day your goal and don't stop walking until you hit it!

  • A fun way to get active while reading with your kids is to read a book out loud and act out parts of the story. If a character is running, you could run on the spot or around the house too.

  • Your little ones will love opportunities to practice their kicking and catching balls, climbing and balancing with you.

  • Build a small garden together as a family - the kids can have fun and learn as they decide which plants to grow in the garden they helped to build.

  • Set your phone or computer alarm to remind the family to stand up and get moving every 30 minutes when you're at home. You could all march on the spot together or even go for a short walk around the house or the block.
