On your little one's birthday, include a present that involves being active. A hacky sack, Frisbee, skipping rope or football are all great options.
You don't have to block out a whole afternoon for exercise. Take a stop watch, make ten minutes each day your goal and don't stop walking until you hit it!
When playing outdoors, you don't need toys or expensive exercise equipment – improvise with household or garden items such as brooms, rakes, empty plastic bottles and so on and set up your own obstacle course. (Just make sure kids have sun protection, such as sunscreen, hats and shade.)
