Tips to help your family sit less and move more

We’ve got a whole library of practical tips to help you and your family get moving! Keep it fun by trying out some of our challenges, too.


  • If you're self-conscious about your body, start by being active with a partner or friend - or your whole family. Strength in numbers!

  • Make physical activity part of your family's routine. The more regular your efforts in keeping active, the more likely you are to stick to your new healthy active lifestyle.

  • Try to keep family activities varied, and be sure to let your children take turns choosing what activity the family will do next.

  • Playing with balloons can be fun and active for all ages. Join the kids in a game of punching, kicking or throwing balloons and keeping them off the ground for as long as they can.

  • You don't need fancy gadgets or expensive equipment for strength building exercises – the stairs or park bench will do! Try doing exercises that use your body weight like push-ups, squats or lunges.
