Tips to help your family sit less and move more

We’ve got a whole library of practical tips to help you and your family get moving! Keep it fun by trying out some of our challenges, too.


  • Make physical activity part of your family's routine. The more regular your efforts in keeping active, the more likely you are to stick to your new healthy active lifestyle.

  • Get your family into some fun activities that strengthen their muscles, like swinging on monkey bars, playing tug-o-war or gymnastics.

  • A fun way to get active while reading with your kids is to read a book out loud and act out parts of the story. If a character is running, you could run on the spot or around the house too.

  • A great way to get the family moving together - especially something that makes you huff and puff a bit - is to play a game of tag together. For more game ideas, check out our downloadable Resources.

  • If your child is in a stroller encourage them to walk for some of the journey.
