With a few pointers from the tips below, you and your family could get more out of every day. Or, try some of our challenges to really get things rolling!
Try incorporating Canberra's outdoors or some physical activity into your catch ups with friends and family. This can be as simple as meeting at an urban park or playground, pool or meeting friends for a bike ride around the lake followed by a picnic.
Kids aged five and over should limit watching TV or playing electronic games for entertainment to no more than two hours per day.
Try to set a good example at home by reducing electronic media use for entertainment. Turn off the TV - especially at meal times - and make bedrooms TV and computer free zones.
Try to set aside a regular time to talk with the kids. Get them to tell you about the three best things about their day. Not only will your child feel special, you'll be able to stay across what's going on in their lives.
There are lots of ways you can help your community, like delivering meals to those in need, reading books to children, or door-to-door collecting for charity. Volunteering ACT has great ideas on where to start.
