Tips to get your family into life

With a few pointers from the tips below, you and your family could get more out of every day. Or, try some of our challenges to really get things rolling!


  • There are endless ways you can motivate your family to move more at home like a game of backyard cricket, soccer, or basketball. And by being physically active with your family, you're also being a great role model for your kids.

  • It can sometimes be difficult to get everyone together for dinner, so why not start the day together as a family instead? Eating breakfast together is a great way to share what the day's plans are and get everyone off to a positive start!

  • Time spent looking at a screen generally means time not spent exercising or connecting with your family - and with so much technology around it's easy to lose track of time. Try allocating specific time periods for media use - preferably not during daylight hours when you can be active outdoors instead - to limit your family's screen time.

  • Try to eat some meals with the whole family. Sharing meals is a great way to be together and enjoy eating.

  • When you're juggling parenting with the demands of everyday life, it can be hard to stay on top of everything. Often a 'walk and talk' is a good way to catch up with friends and the kids can come along and run around.
