Tips to help you eat well

This collection of handy tips will help you and your family enjoy better eating habits. But don’t forget to also check out our ‘Good Habits’ recipes, as well as challenges to keep your family motivated.

  • If you eat fast food, try to swap fries for a side salad, a sundae for a fruit salad and soft drink for tap water (take your own drink bottle!).

  • A salad is quick and easy to prepare in summer. If you run out of time pick up a pre-made salad from the supermarket.

  • It can be hard but try to include a variety of different coloured vegetables each day (e.g. red, orange, yellow, green, blue/purple and white) to give your family's bodies the nutrients they need to stay healthy.

  • Teach your child to listen to their body's signals and ask "is your tummy telling you you’re full?".

  • We know how hard it can be, but children are less likely to eat when there is pressure, force or bribery.
