Tips to help you eat well

This collection of handy tips will help you and your family enjoy better eating habits. But don’t forget to also check out our ‘Good Habits’ recipes, as well as challenges to keep your family motivated.

  • Choose fruit and vegies in season. They taste great and are often cheaper too - check out our guide to what's in season now.

  • Avoid overfilling your child's plate. You'll waste less food and they won't overeat. Besides... they can always ask for seconds!

  • Offer your child a choice. Instead of "do you want broccoli for dinner?" ask "would you prefer broccoli or cauliflower with dinner?".

  • Keep food safe. Always wash hands before cooking. It's best to keep food hot, at or above 60' celsius, or cold, at or below 5' celsius.

  • Off to a sporting event? Pack some healthy snacks so you'll be less tempted by the high fat, high sugar foods on offer at the game. This tip can apply to any event or activity outside of the house.
