Challenge your family to get into life
These are challenges to help your family get more out of life – but they're so much fun, they won’t really feel that challenging at all! Plus, you can try our handy tips to help get you started.
The garden is a constant source of wonder for young kids, so why not get them involved? They can help with fun, active tasks like digging holes for plants, carrying watering cans or raking leaves into piles. If you plant herbs or vegies you could even pop around to say hello to your neighbours with some yummy, home-grown food!
Every day this week, smile at a stranger. For kids, it could be someone outside of their year at school, and for you, someone at the shops. Notice how good you feel knowing that you just brightened up someone’s day! (TIP: if smiling at strangers feels too uncomfortable, you could instead choose to give out a compliment to someone you do know!)
During the ad breaks, mute the sound on the TV and take turns calling out an animal name. Everyone has to move like that animal to a finish line (or the end of the ad break!). Make it more fun by making the animal noise too! You could also use this challenge to break up time spent sitting behind the computer or game device and schedule breaks.

Try starting your own club or team and invite other families to join. Whether it’s your extended family, the neighbours or friends, your club or team could play a sport, go on weekly walks, or visit Canberra's great parks and nature reserves! Not only will you spend time together being active, you'll avoid paying registration fees!
