These are challenges to help your family get more out of life – but they're so much fun, they won’t really feel that challenging at all! Plus, you can try our handy tips to help get you started.
Let your family create their own meal - buffet style! Place all the toppings on the bench or table and allow family members to prepare their own Fajitas, wraps or salads.
Ask one of your kids to be the 'table captain' for a week. For example, as a 'table captain' your child sets the table, takes the family's meals from the kitchen to the table, gets drinks and clears the table (depending on their age of course!). Get each of your children to take a turn over different weeks.
Stage a ‘Superchef Kids’ event at home. Make chef hats and supervise as the kids run the kitchen. You’ll connect with your kids while they have fun and learn about healthier eating choices.
You don't have to stop watching TV, but here's a fun idea to get you and your family moving in the ad breaks. Create an animal race by muting the sound and take turns calling out an animal name. When an animal is called, everyone has to move like that animal to a finish line. Make it more fun by making the animal noise, too, and you will have everyone laughing in no time. You can also break up time spent sitting behind the computer or game device with this game too and schedule breaks!
A fun game you and your family can play - or even invite other families to play - is to create a ‘crazy golf’ course using items from around the house. Use blocks, cushions or tunnels made out of cardboard boxes and show the children how to guide the ball around the course. Make the course hard or easy - it's up to you.
